CLARITY
Another vital grading characteristic in diamonds is their clarity.
This refers to the number, position and size of the inclusions that
occur naturally inside diamonds. The fewer and less obvious the
inclusions, the more valuable the diamond. Here is an illustration
showing the clarity grading scale that has been established by the
world’s foremost authority on diamonds,
the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Note: Diamonds
are shown under 10X magnification:

Flawless.
Rarest of all clarities; If a diamond is viewed under 10X magnification
and does not exhibit any internal inclusions as well as external
blemishes, the diamond is considered Flawless by an experienced
diamond grader. If one is seeking the ultimate clarity in their
diamond, they shall take into consideration that diamonds in
the ultimate in clarity grade are very rare, thus highly prized
for their beauty and rarity. |

10X magnification and does not exhibit any internal inclusions
but exhibits extremely minor external blemishes, the diamond
is considered Internally Flawless by an experienced diamond
grader. If one is seeking the ultimate clarity in their diamond,
they shall take into consideration that diamonds in the ultimate
in clarity grade are very rare, thus highly prized for their

Very, Very Slightly Included.
If a diamond is viewed under 10K magnification and exhibits
very, very small inclusions anywhere in the diamond and extremely
minor external blemishes, the diamond is considered Very Very
Slightly included (VVS) by an experienced diamond grader. If
one is seeking a higher degree of perfect clarity they must
remember diamonds with this type of clarity grade are still
rare and highly prized in beauty. |

Very Slightly Included.
If a diamond is viewed under 10K magnification and exhibits
very small inclusions anywhere throughout the diamond and small
external blemishes, this diamond would be considered Very Slightly
included (VS) by an experienced diamond grader. If one seeks
a measured degree of clarity perfection they must remember that
diamonds with this type of clarity grade are considered an exceptional
value. |

Slightly Included.
If a diamond is viewed under 10K magnification and exhibits
small inclusions anywhere in the diamond and external blemishes
may be present, the diamond is considered Slightly included
(SI) by an experienced diamond grader. In most cases, SI clarity
may not be visible to the naked eye. If one is seeking to purchase
a less expensive diamond in clarity, one must remember these
types of diamonds with SI clarity grade are considered a great
value. |

Included.
If a diamond is viewed under 10X magnification and exhibits
noticeable inclusions anywhere in the diamond with external
blemishes present, a diamond is considered Included (I1) by
an experienced diamond grader. Diamonds with I1 clarity grade
have inclusions visible to the naked eye. If one seeks a less
expensive diamond one must remember that diamonds with this
clarity grade may still be considered a good value. |
